INTRODUCTION.
Peter - denied Jesus three times.
1 Peter 1:3–5 NASB95
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
MESSAGE.

I. GOD PROVIDES US WITH GREAT MERCY .

1. Mercy -

leniency and compassion shown toward offenders by a person or agency of authority; often penal- related(bible sense Lexicon.)

2. Born Again

has caused to be born again (one work in Greek language)
new life.

3. “through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”

The work of Jesus Christ.
Christ was resurrected from the dead.
As Christian we are in Christ and associated with Christ; therefore we are associated with His resurrection.
God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of his light, or make space too narrow, than diminish the great mercy of God.
Charles Spurgeon

II. GOD PROVIDES US WITH AN INHERITANCE.

1. Inheritance.

romans 8:17.
Romans 8:17 NASB95
17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

2. Imperishable.

3. Reserved in Heaven.

It is openly taught from Genesis to Revelation that the true believer stands to benefit from an inheritance. God being who He is, His beneficence and His benefits are infinite and limitless.
I believe that God always touches with infinity everything that He does and this leads to the thought that the inheritance we receive must be equal to the God who gives it. Being God, He does not deal in things which are merely finite. Therefore, the inheritance that the child of God receives is limitless and infinite.
What a contrast to our small gifts and legacies and benefits on this earth!…
Even the world’s richest man can only leave what he has—nothing more. Somewhere, the millions give out and every estate has a boundary.
But, God being who He is, the inheritance we receive from Him is limitless—it is all of the universe!…
We humans should remember that when our high flights of imagination have taken wings upward we can be sure that we have never quite reached as high as His provision, because our imagination will always falter, run out of energy and fall weakly to the ground. In contrast, there is no limit to the infinite benefactions of God Almighty to His redeemed ones.

III. GOD PROVIDES US PROTECTION.

1. “Protected by the power of God.”

john 10:28.
John 10:28 NASB95
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

2. Through Faith.

3. Salvation.

God’s deliverance from physical and spiritual captivity.

4. to be revealed in the last time.

salvation now and later.
romans 8:35-39.
Romans 8:35–39 NASB95
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What grand security we have because we are ‘in Christ’! The Christian is not one who is redeemed and saved today but who may fall from it tomorrow and be lost. There is no ‘in and out’ in salvation. You are either ‘in Adam’ or you are ‘in Christ’, and if you are ‘in Christ’ you have eternal security, you are in Him for ever.
Assurance, 182
